After an absence of almost 40 years, the old jenever brand Rynbende is back on the market with a Vintage Genever: The Mayor of Exploration.
Based on one of the old recipes, this unique Schiedam jenever is an ode to founder Simon Rynbende and one of Rynbende's last successful managers, Job Kramer Freher. His grandson Sjaak Pappe found grandfather's recipes for the strong drinks in the inheritance. Together with friend Erik Post they decided to revive Rynbende.
Unique Schiedam recipe
The Mayor of Exploration is made from, among other things, a malt wine aged 3 years in American oak barrels, smoky malt whiskey and 25 years aged vodka in European oak barrels, distilled according to Schiedam tradition from 1902, which results in a purer drink. Finally, 8 botanicals or herbs from an old recipe from Rynbende have been used.
A drink for lovers of an old jenever 2.0, but also for lovers of whiskey and gin, and for those who like 'wine and food'. A delicious discovery to drink neat, but also excellent for a mix or a cocktail or seafood.
